Role in Trade
Yemen Ministry of Interior (MoI) is controlling import, export, and transit of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and pyrotechnic. The importation of explosives is generally prohibited. However, import licenses may be granted by the MoI to implement development projects and what relates to them in terms of civil and military works and construction. According to Republican Decree No.1 of 1994 of the Executive Regulation of Law No. 40 of 1992 on Regulating Carrying Firearms and Ammunitions and their Trade, explosives licenses may only be granted to a limited number of traders who are selected by the Ministry of Interior.
Arms and ammunition for civil purposes as well as other security-related goods are also subject to approval from the Ministry of Interior:
- Import license for explosives and fireworks
- Import license for arms and ammunition
